I'm sorry if we've all heard this question before. Recently, I haven't
been paying attention to the klarinet list lately. Sorry.
But can anyone tell me what would be the perfect way to audition to get
into a band/orchestra, such as the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra, or your
local school best ensemble?
I remembered when I went to Scarborough Music Camp 2 years ago, I had the
best conductor of my life. He told us (the band) that when your
auditioning, try not to pick a piece that's difficult, instead, moderate
- but play it quite beautifully. Personally, I agree with him. Music is
someone to be played beautifully, then (*then*) technically. But I would
like your opinions.
How should I audition? With something intermediate, or very difficult? It
would be best to e-mail your answers to de581@-----. Thanks!
