Unfortunate that the auditioner said anything. He should have just smiled
and said "thank you - we'll let you know where you place - thanks for
auditioning!" And kept his thoughts and reactions to himself.

On the flip side, if you are convinced that the vibrato is justified, why
ask? Do you have any classical recordings with bass clarintists? Do they
use vibrato?
