Buffet Elite is an interesting horn. It plays like a toy to me because it is so light. The key work is really nice. The drawback is the lack of resistance that so many of us take for granted for a dark sound. I found that I had an *extremely* bright sound on the Elite no matter which mouthpiece I used, and no matter how hard the reed. Extremely bright meaning you could hear the Elite stick out of a 300 piece band...and I don't mean in a good way. I really haven't heard of any professionals using it, and would say Try before you buy! If you like the R13, and feel the Opus or other Leblancs are too freeblowing, you will probably hate the Elite. If you play a Leblanc, and think a totally freeblowing horn would be an improvement, this might be the horn for you. The *workmanship* is very good though. Just not a horn I could ever use in a public setting for my tastes.
