P: Check with the local schools (band directors, music teachers etc),
music stores and their bulletin boards, the musicians union, the LIBRARY,
Council for the Arts (or something similar) yada, yada, yada. Generally,
these amateur groups don't meet in the summer so the newspapers wouldn't
be carrying much. Things should pick up. Here in the Pittsburgh area,
the East Winds advertise in the classifieds for amateur volunteer
players. Oh yeah, check with parade coordinators - I found a dixieland
band that way, once!

One more suggestion - post a notice yourself at a community bulletin
board, music store and so forth indicating your interest in joining such
a group. Careful about giving out address, though. Give phone # and
e-mail only.

Good luck!
