I don't know that the silver on the keys makes any difference in sound,
whatever. It may, however, be more durable than the nickel. I have
noticed that after about a year of hard use as a major, the plating is
starting to show wear. As to the evenness of the scale, etc, I didn't
find that much of a difference. Although, I do agree with you that the
sound of an Opus is decidedly darker- but only slightly.
