My son bought 2 Festivals last year. The A hasn't cracked. The Bb ended up
with a crack that went through to the bore. Francois Kloc replaced and
matched a new joint to the Bb. It is now better than new - Francois
regulated it and also replaced all the upper joint pads with cork.

The Bb cracked during wintertime up at Interlochen, Michigan - it is very
cold & dry during the winter season up there. They allow plenty of time for
the students to warm up their instruments, and he has an insulated Altieri
backpack, but it's still going to go through some drastic changes going from
a heated dorm room or practice room to outside to the hall.
