Subj: [kl] fast vs. slow practice

I´ve found a effective way to practice fast passages that works well for
me. I call it the gracenote method. This exercises should be performed
without metronome.

play the first note as a gracenote to the second and reverse, the 2nd as a
gracenote to the 3rd and reverse, the two first as gracenotes to the 3rd
and reverse, the 3rd as a gracenote to the 4th and reverse, the 2dn and
3rd as gracenotes to the 4th, the three first as gracenotes to the 4th and
reverse, the 4th to the 5th, 3rd and 4th to the 5th, 2nd 3rd 4th to the
5th, the four first as gracenotes to the 5th and reverse. Continue in the
same way but don´t play more than four notes preceding to the main notes.
now play the whole passage slowly 4-8 times and try to play it in tempo.
If it don´t work the first day wait to the next day. Be patient it is
limits of how much you can learn in one single day, as my professor say.
To overdo difficult passages in one practice session is dangerous, it may
tell the your brain that this passage is impossible. In scandinavia we
have a saying ( i don´t know if it is properly transtated): "hurry up
slowly"
