I just bought a CD (Kosei KOCD 4000) containing the Jeanjean
"Guisganderie." I had hoped to hear this work at Clarinetfest, but the
gentleman who was to perform it was not there and the program was changed.
I had never heard of this work, and was rather pleased to find it on a CD.
I was then shocked to find out that this is NOT the famous PAUL Jeanjean
who wrote our beautiful sonata, but another PAIR of Jeanjean's!! (Faustin
and Mourice). Does anyone know anything about them? Also, the work is
more of a 1920's-1930's novelty number (kinda like Confrey's "Dizzy
Fingers") rather than a serious classical effort. It sounds like a finger
twister and is VERY pleasant to listen to and I bet fun to play. I have
the music on order.
On another note, I may have missed the boat, but I am still waiting to
order my Conference tapes. Should I give up? None of the conference
administrators are responding to my e-mails.
