About the A3-G#3 trill --

It is indeed awkward, and I can't do it rapidly in spite of many hours at
the keyboard with M. Hanon's infamous exercises, developing my third and
fourth fingers (4th and 5th in piano notation).

I did find three alternatives in the Klose method's table of trill
fingerings, page 11 in my old edition. Assuming that the trill starts on
the note above, the one that works best for me is to hold the A fingering
and trill to G#3 with the first two fingers of my right hand. It's easy to
do and, at least on my old Conn clarinet, both notes are reasonably close
to being in tune.
