Subj: [kl] Advertisment from Youffer's Music
Date: Sun, 9 Aug 1998 23:03:05 -0400

I received an unsolicited e-mail advertisement from Youffer's Music in
Wilmington, OH, which included the following statement:

< Per Section 301, Paragraph (a)(2)(C) of S. 1618, further transmissions
< to you by the sender of this email may be stopped at no cost to you by
< sending a reply to this email address with the word "remove" in the
< subject line.

And this one:

< To be deleted from future e-mail messages, please forward this e-mail to
< STOP@-----.COM

If anyone else has received such mail, I would advise you NOT to respond
in the way they want you to. This will just serve as a confirmation to
them that your e-mail address is valid. In turn, such organizations
sometimes sell your name and address to numerous other sleazy commercial
concerns, and there may be no end to the e-mail you will get trying to
sell you every kind of worthless item or service you can imagine.

I'm going to forward their message to the administrator of my system, and
let them see if they can deal with it. I would advise others to do the
same.
