I'm familiar with Alvin's work, these are very similar to Hans Moennig's
replacement register tubes (which I have).

They do make an improvement over stock tubes and can be user installed.

The gold is Alvin's improvement over Moennig and seem logical.

These tubes probably work best with a Moennig taper barrel.

Alvin lives in Memphis and is very soon moving to the Norfolk area, hence
the Norfolk P.O. Box, but the Memphis postmark.

I have a pair of old Moennig-Buffet clarinets, which I got from Moennig in
1964, and the B-flat felt very blown out.

The new barrel and bell that I bought from Alvin at Clarinet Fest really
infused new life into the B-flat.
