My bass clarinet suffered unduly last summer too. It became extremely
"stuffy" in the high register, when I could get a sound out of it at all. I
was playing in a show at the time, and I left it at the theatre for the
duration of the show. This made a gigantic difference - constant
temperature and humidity meant it came right and was better than ever. My
R13 Bb went unplayed from December through to mid-January, and didn't seem
to suffer at all.
