Actually that is exactly the statement I was respodning to. That if someone
doesn't like classical music then he/she is uneducated. But I said in my post
that I understood the original post. ( that unedcuated ment in the areas of
theory, and how everything fits together etc, not in the sense of people being
just plain old dumb about it..) I was responding to someone else's (sorry, i
forget who) who was trying to clarify the post for another list-goer.

I think it's pretty close to the norm. (At least for what I have seen) in my
high school wind ensemble we all get exposed to classical music regualy, but I
only know of 4 people who actually like it. It's not that we don't understand
it. We study theory and history and everything so we pretty much know what's
going on. Some people just don't like it. This is just my experience with it,
but I'm assuming that it wouldn't be much different with others in my age
group. Some people like classical, some don't. It's not a matter of
understanding it. I mean, you are more likely to appreciate what you
understand, but understanding it doesn't mean you'll automatically like it.
It;s like me and Shakespere. I don't care for his literature, but I understand
it and have great appreciation for it. And one more point is that if you can
say that people don't like classical music because they are uneducated in the
theory etc behind it, than I can come right back and say that those of you who
don't liek rap are just uneducated in the same way. But, personally, I think
we've gone on about classical vs popular music. Everyone has a different taste
in music, and we should just ejoy the variety. :-)

(BTW, I'm responding to more than one post in that long paragraph there, so I
know that you may not have said everything I was reffering too. I don't have
all the names and posts right in front of me so sorry if I made a boo boo :-)
