Hi Mr. Garrett!
I was wondering if you could help me. Some time ago, you told me that the
orchestral excerpt books were out of print, and I should invest in buying the
full clarinet parts to pieces. Well, I've been collecting the full scores.
Anyhow, what I'm getting at is there is an orchestra audition for the Cedar
Rapids Symphony for either their Principal and Second Clarinet chair. I don't
know if they will want excerpts, but if they do, I'm sunk because I don't have
EVERYTHING that is essential to orchestral clarinet repertoire. Could I
borrow your excerpt books for the auditions (29th and 30th of this month). I
know I will have to work my tail off if I'm even going to be considered, but I
know I have a good chance.
If I could borrow your books, I will mail them back to you, and I will be
forever in debt to you.
What else should I expect when it comes to these auditions? Should I bring a
prepared solo? Can I audition for both, or do I have to choose one?
If you will mail your excerpt books, my address is:
Chris Hoffman
125 E. Boyson Rd. Apt. #1202
Hiawatha, Iowa 52233
This is a different address than the one I gave you before. We have moved to
a suburb of Cedar Rapids.
Playing for this symphony has been a dream of mine, and while it's not the
Chicago Symphony, it is still good, and close to home for now! Thank you for
your time and consideration!
Sincerely,
Chris Hoffman
