I don't think Roger is saying that at all. He is merely saying that there
are many more Americans who have not had the same exposure to classical
music than those who have played an instrument in a band or orchestra. He
is not calling people who like popular music uneducated at all. He is
calling many people who do not like classical uneducated, but not in an
insulting context. Instead, he means uneducated in terms of not being
exposed to classical music, and perhaps if they had given it a chance or
been informed of its nuances they would appreciate it more.

While I can understand why you may have misunderstood the implications of
"uneducated" with respect to whether its connotation, I see no evidence in
Roger's post that he was calling people who enjoy popular music uneducated.
