Nikki is correct about more rap than classical music on the radio. Radio
stations sell air time to advertisers........advertisers will pay more for
advertisements on stations that have the largest number of
listeners.....and rap draws more listeners than "classical" music. What
does this mean? It means that the percentage of Americans who are
educated and trained musically is much less than those who are uneducated
musically..........it also means that more people listen to music that has
a social function than music that has complex
origins/basis/form/harmony/structure/rhythmic/melodic development. It is
neither right nor wrong.....it is simply the way it is! And, frankly,
this has been going on since the beginning of time itself....in all
countries.
