Hi...thanks very much for your advice. I picked up the sax last
night...it is a tenor, Bundy II...and has a Belmonte mouthpiece. I also
picked up some reeds...Rico #3 (they were on sale for 1/2 price!). As I
go along, I'll get a better reed.

I'm excited about learning how to play this instrument...however, I
thought it was going to be a bit easier! *laughing* I'm a mediocre
clarinet player...returning last year after 30 plus years since high
school. I play in a community band and for my own enjoyment. I'm a piano
teacher by profession, so the musicality was not too much of a problem,
and I got my chops back after a short while. I had always heard that if
you could play clarinet, you could play sax with no problem. Well...I
realize it's gonna take more than 30 minutes...LOL...but I thought I
would be able to play more than 5 notes pretty quickly! I can't blow the
lower notes at all! When I left high school, I was a pretty good bass
clarinet player...apparently, my mouth does not remember the embouchure!

I have high hopes...little time to practice. My brother is a jazz
pianist and composer. I had hoped to be able to play some of his tunes
with him. Guess it's going to take a little longer than I figured. We
were hoping to put out a CD by Christmas! Maybe Christmas next year!!!

Thanks again for your advice...it's much appreciated!

Carli
