OK, this is a quite a topic. I'd like to explain to one of my students the
difference between staccatos. I'm at a loss for words. I want to say "x-ray
me while I'm playing," but we all know that can't happen.
I know these types of questions are horrible, because there are many
interpretations of how to do technique. Every interpretation is correct, and
the only reason I'm relying on your interpretive suggestions is because I
can't explain my technique. I have no problems teaching other people's ideas.
Heck, I'll even tell my students where I got the idea to explain and execute
light and hard staccatos.
So, how would you describe your technique for light and hard staccatos to your
students?
This is really important to me, so I appreciate any replies on this varied
topic. Thank you very much!
