I wrote the "Some Modern Music Trash Statement", so I'll further explain.
there are a lot of recent works that are to me great. Several of my
favorite pieces were written past 1900. As an 8th grader I loved the Rite
of Spring. Some works that I enjoy to play as well as listen to are most of
Joan Towers works, Larsen Dancing Solo, Smith 5 pieces, Martino A Set. I
even enjoy the Berio Concertante. But there are quite a bit of works that
just make me roll my eyes, and wonder what the "composer was on" when
he/she composed. To me, all the time in the world will not make those
pieces more pleasurable to listen to.
"Genuflect while playing??", turn the mouthpiece around and blow through
the other end", etc., etc.......... (*;)
Hey, at least were not discussing Rap anymore ;)
