I know, I know, you don't work at Microsoft, so I'll try once more here and
then I'll move my confusion over to their support area. I tried both of your
suggestions and they DO get me the IE40 update pages, and downloading OE
(from scratch - not a patch) IS an option, but there's nothing about a new
security patch to be found. I know it exists - I heard about it on news
radio before your original post came through. Has anyone else downloaded
this for OE running under Win95? Is it possible this is a Win98 issue,
either because OE relates differently to it or because Win98 includes a
newer release of OE that isn't available to the rest of us and that, as a
result, the patch is only available as a Win98 update? Parenthetically,
Microsoft doesn't provide a search engine for its site - you just have to
follow the links until the blind alley you're in becomes evident.

Thanks for any other information.
