P: Just a comment (and my opinion based on observation and experience ).
Acceptability of smoking is DECREASING (legally and socially),
homosexuality may be more acceptable but the much vaunted sexual freedom
of the sixties has receded into "less acceptable" - much more acceptable
is single partner regardless of marital status. I think mores are
swinging like a pendulum - Look what we're doing to Bill Clinton that I
doubt was done to some of the more colorful popes!

To bring it back to music - let's find juicy controversy in the schleppy
use of Picardy Thirds! (I'm not referring to the legitimate use, just
the "schleppy" <];-) ) Instrumental is tougher than vocal because not
as many people can relate to it. Anyone can have a "passionate" opinion
on language and word usage. "Classical music is boring..." is oh so
passionate.
