Well, I think that it has become more acceptable to use words like that in
mainstream films. I was just at the movies watching the re-release of Gone with
Wind. What a great movie, and the line "Frankly, my dear, I don't give a damn,"
was controversial in those days. Now it is nothing! I wonder why that is?
Words like that have always been around and will always exist, but I think we
don't have to accept that as being mainstream. A lot of people object, but
movies like that still make money. If people are truly unhappy they will do
something about it and refuse to watch stuff that has that in it. Also, I've
noticed trends toward more vulgarity in popular literature too -- I'm writing a
paper on it right now for my English class. I wonder why that is? Oh well, I
won't take up anymore space on the list philosophizing. I've enjoyed reading
your comments, Mary!
