Well, I think it is always important to consider your audience when you
are going to perform something. Was the majority of the audience peers
of parents? Could you have found something to play that both would have
enjoyed? Also, the piece is a bit long, so maybe something shorter may
have been appropriate.

I feel really bad for you, because that piece is a hard one to work up
and you must really have put time in to prepare for the concert. Still,
rather than going out on stage knowing you are going to force the
"boring issue" you may want to find something else to play.

I am sure there will be PLENTY of times in your life that you can
perform this piece and many other classical pieces. Maybe you may want
to sacrifice for the present in order to satisfy popular demand. :)
