the band leasder who did the first performance of Rhapsody in Blue with
George Gershwin...........still dates me by a few years......Interesting
sidelight though...........It seems that Gershwin and I were born in the
same house in Brooklyn (actually, I was born in the hospital but my family
lived in the house at the time.............my grandfather apparently bought
the house either from the Gershwins or from the owner of the house (the
gershwins might have rented) after the Gershwin family moved to the lower
east side of Manhattan...............We found out about this in the late
1950s...after our family sold the house and we had moved.....interesting
coincidence that you should come up with Paul Whiteman...................
