Karen,

I second the advise that Chris gave you. If you live close to a good
(underscore good) technician, take it there and let him/her make an
assessment. You may find that minor, inexpensive adjustments can be made
that make all the difference in the world. I had a problem that frustrated
me for years with my R-13 A that nearly drove me crazy. A few minutes in
the shop, and its like a new horn. In fact I play my A more than ever.

My advise is be patient, my own experience and that of others I know is that
most instruments need adjustments to some degree or another right out "the
box".
