I did try a few different As. I didn't have a lot of time to though, because I
have college auditions in 3 months and a piece that I'd like to play calls for
an A. I think I tried around 15 used horns, because I can't afford a brand new
one. (what was really hard, was when they brought out a brand new R13 for me
to compare it to.. I *really* wanted that one!) I ended up buying the only
one that actually sounded good, because many of the horns I tried sounded
worse than my broken, plastic Artly clarinet. (we got a good deal on it
becuase it needed a full overhaul so it's not exactly like I threw out my
money on the first horn that worked) i hope the one I chose will be fine for
now though, I plan on buying a new one as soon as I can afford it. I love the
lower and highest registers, but the middle is pretty hard to get out right. I
hope that after I play it for awhile it'll get easier. Thank You!
