For Eric Dolphy fans:
There's a great bio called "Eric Dolphy, A Musical Biography & Discography" by
Vladimir Simosko & Barry Tepperman. It was first published in 1974 by
Smithsonian
and has been reprinted a couple of times in paperback by Da Capo Press. From
the
book, a quote by John Coltrane after the passing of Eric Dolphy:
"Whatever I'd say would be an understatement. I can only say my life was
made much better by knowing him. He was one of the greatest people I've
ever known, as a man, as a friend, and as a musician."
