I want to thank everybody for answering my original question. I now
have a much better insight into the judging of soloists. What I have
gotten from this is that some judges will take into account the age
level which they are judging. Therefore a student should be encouraged
by a good rating, but needs to realize that it doesn't necessarily mean
that they are ready for a symphony. The suggestion to pay close
attention to the comments is an excellent one. I believe that the
comments made on mine was much more imortant to me than the rating
itself, especially when I performed the Weber 2nd Clarinet Concerto.
