Flat open G, sharp low G and A (a big bummer), 12ths are not very close to
in tune. The lady listening told me that I was probably adjusting for
what my horn does - but I felt I did a good job of keeping embouchure and
air consistant - without voicing too much to compensate. Since my horn
tends to be slightly low on the open G and F (first space), I know I
wasn't adjusting the wrong way! Scott Wright, a good friend, had the same
experience - the saleslady told him that his mouthpiece and reed setup
were causing the pitch problem. I guess there is an answer for
everything!
