At the Clarinet Fest, there were plastic reeds that had been developed by
two chemists - using polymers......and they played incredibly well. I
purchased three Bb's and two Bass Clarinet reeds of slightly varying
strengths.........I and another person who was with me (a terrific
clarinetist!) tried them out for 15 minutes........at 10 bucks a pop, with
a 6 week wait, we felt it was a good thing to pay for.
I have additional info if anyone is interested.
