What Francois has described (wood density and how it affects tone/sound)
is consistant with the experiences I had trying out horns at the Clarinet
Fest. I love those exhibits!

I tried the Holwarth (sp??) line, and, pitch problems aside, found the
horn to be very good. However......they sell the standard Grenadilla
(African Blackwood), Rosewood, Cocobolo, and one other I can't remember.
It was astounding to me the difference in the sound of each - same design,
same specs......but so incredibly different. And, beyond that, the
resistance seemed identical - which is futher supported by Francois'
description of the differences between bores of the RC and R-13 models and
how those bore differences affect the resistance.

The materials discussion is far from proven!
