I have been watching the responses to the original e-mail which
I sent a couple of days ago. I have seen everything from slamming
teachers to slamming fellow clarinetists. However, I have yet
to see an answer to the question which I originally stated at the
end of my email. At one point I jumped back in to encourage students
to take the bad with the good. Hopefully, everyone has this out of
there system and can focus on the original question. I will restate
in case you forgot.

"However, I wonder how inflated these competition ratings are. It's
not very helpful to and individual receives a high rating if it does not
truly reflect reality. Is the system designed to make students feel
good, or is it an honest appraisal of their actual ability?" If you
have an answer let's see if it can be given without being "rude, crude,
or socially unacceptable"

If I have mispelled anything please ignore it, my spelling checker
doesn't work on replies and I'm sitting in a Hotel in Lake Tahoe far
from any dictionary.

Thanks,
Jay Webler
