Actually, Mahler, at about 5'2", was perhaps the shortest of recent
composers (Alban Berg, at 6'6" or so, was probably the tallest).

Mahler ardently believed that Mozart was the greatest composer -
supposedly his last utterance before succumbing to heart failure was
"Mozart..". So if Ed Lacy thinks Mahler was the greatest (a feeling I
have some sympathy with), and Mahler thought Mozart the greatest - oh,
never mind.
