Looking through the reviews of some of the recordings in the back of the
latest issue of the Clarinet magazine, I found a CD recording called
"Par Excellance".
This CD contains both the Saint Saens Sonata and the Poulenc Sonata,
each of which I am currently working on. It also contains a recording
of Debussy's Premiere Rapsodie which I hope to start work on later this
year. The performer is Karl Leister.
Is this recording representative of contemporary interpretations of
these pieces? I'd like to buy this recording to study in part some of
the interpretations for my own performances, but I don't want to have an
antiquated example to work off of (like that record I found of Reginald
Kell). I know a solution would be to get a second recording but I was
just wondering...
Anybody know other recordings of these pieces that I might be interested
in? Thanks for any opinions or tips you can give me, on or off the
list.

Salut!
Mark
