Are we really talking about Edison cylinders here? Or are we talking about
flat shellac discs? Edison Cylinders are considerably shorter in length than
4.5 minutes (although a 12' 78 rpm disc runs about that time). In any case, I
agree that many fascinating recordings were made during the early years of
recording.
