Okay this is starting to make sense now. Saying the HS* works WELL with
the CT, as I did, doesn't mean it feels ideal. And yes, I was surprised at
how well the Hite Premiere, hardly a "pro" mouthpiece, plays with the horn,
why a B45--which I used to despise--plays with a #4 reed on the horn, and
why the 5JV is just awesome with it. It sounds like the mouthpiece was
mismatched to the instrument.
This may also explain why the HS* made the much narrower bore Selmer
Recital play like gangbusters.
Eventually I may figure this all out:-).
