I agree totally with your statement about clarinetists being So competitive;
it's rediculuos the way we act sometimes to try to make others feel like
we're better; or, more, make ourselves feel like we're better. Although
I've never had anyone on my left!;-)::chuckles::

I'll go ahead and throw my 2 cents in anyway...
1. The Hite "Melodious and Progressive Studies" were fun; especially when
followed by "Artistic Studies from the French School" by Cyrille Rose.
2. What ever best suits your style of playing and your budget. I use a
Malerne Professional; and frankly it's my favorite; but you may or may not
like it at all.
3. I have to go with Vandoren and Mitchell Lurie Premium; the reeds are
very similar in quality and feel; at least IMHO.
4. Hmmm.... That's a tough one; Just to stay neutral I'll have to go with
"Hymn, Fugue, and Scherzo for Clarinet" by Tristan Carpenter... choose my
own piece so I don't get assaulted by Mozart lovers, loathers; Polenc
fans...etc....
5. I'd like to add a ligature category.... And for me it's the BG
Revelation... For the kind of playing I do; it's untouchable...
