If we replaced the word "best" with "most popular", we'd get a marketing
survey. However, its usefulness would be suspect for many of us (since
low-grade reeds, clarinets, mouthpieces, et. al., would dominate the list).

Best is objective, while the things listed are subjective. To me - an almost
worthless list. Interesting to be sure, but I'll not add anything to it. On
most lists this would be considered a "troll" (post a controversial
statement or question, sit back, and watch the sparks fly).
