To Jonathin Cohler: Yourcontribution to the sliver key discussion (which i
must confess I started ) (which is why they call me "fearless Bob from Reno,
Nv.") was most informative. There seems to be a critical difference between
"a tone hole that is covered from the top" , e.g. by a piece of electrical
tape, (as mentioned by Bonade) and a "plugged tone hole" that you referred to
later (and which is what i had done to my instrument). I assume the plug goes
to the cylinder wall which would eliminate the hole altogether. Given this
would your statement that plugging the hole would affect the intonation of
other notes still hold true?
