That was really well said, Shouryu! I wish I got more criticism about my
playing, actually. Most times I just get the famous "good job, keep it up,"
from my band director or even my judge at Solo and Ensemble. That really IS
NOT helpful at all. I took Stravinsky's 3 pieces to contest and I got pluses
all the way down the review sheet on it. Now, I KNOW that I couldn't have
played it THAT perfectly as a junior in high school! I really didn't get much
out of that performance because most of the learning occurs when you hear what
someone else thinks of your playing and how you can improve it, not when you
hear yourself.

I don't know how I'll deal with that stopping every couple of measures thing
you mentioned, but I have another year until college so maybe I'll be better
prepared for that type of criticism when I get there -- hopefully :)
