I think the Poulenc is easier then it sounds. Not that I am arrogant enough
to call the piece itself easy, but I think that the recordings of it seem a
bit intimidating. Once you slow it down and work it up to m.m. 144 with
careful use of a metronome it isn't that bad. The main thing I am trying to
do with it now is add a little musicality which is pretty challenging since
it is so fast.

Now that I think about it, I am putting the cart before the horse by stating
all the above under the assumption you would play the third movement. Would
you have to play all of it or choose a movement and if so, which movement are
you leaning towards?

I doubt the 2nd movement could be considered a 6, but the first probably
qualifies. Regardless of which movement it is, I think that it is A LOT more
intimidating. When I first heard it I was scared, but I liked it, so I
ordered the music and it turned out not to be as bad as I first anticipated.

I think it is a good choice really because it isn't played nearly as much as
the Mozart and whether you are competing on your own merits or against
others, a judge has got to get tired of hearing the Mozart sooner or later.
The same goes for any piece!
