Editorial markings? In the Bellison? Or what do you speak?
My favorite's still the Bellison; it's a nice simple version; yet well
laid out and easy to follow the musical ideals. I played the concerto from
the Carl Fischer edition of the Simeon Bellison revision.
What do you mean by "attempts to reconstruct the original basset part"?
I was aware that the piece was written for basset clarinet and extended to
low C; but I was under the impression that it was only a few times in the
entire piece that it went below low E...hmmm. Maybe I'll learn
something!!!=:-)
As far as the length of time; no problem... I prepared the piece in 1
and 1/2 months and got an excellent at OMEA; and I had laryngitis the day of
contest! So, you shouldn't have any problem.
Practice is Good,:)
