The winner of the National Symphony 2nd chair position went to a
clarinetist in the Washington Opera Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. How
ironic over 90 people show up to audition from all over the country and
they select someone that's already working there. I don't know what his
name is, but I'm assuming he is the principal clarinetist.

So, naturally you would think there would be an opening in the opera
orchestra. Well, after speaking with the personnel manager of the opera
orchestra, she informed me that there is no official opening as of yet.
And if there is one it won't be open until the spring. It seemed a
little vague. So, all I can say is, keep practicing just in case it
opens up!
