It is interesting that you have chosen the Mozart Concerto. Personally, I
REALLY like the Poulenc A LOT. Also, it may be more effective because judges
here the Mozart many times I am sure and it is probably harder to make a real
impression with it. Just my two cents. Incidentally, if you are studying
the Mozart Concerto a great article to check out can be found at
http://www.sneezy.org/OCR/articles/leeson6.html It is pretty thought
provoking!

Now, in response to your query: I like the G. Schirmer version best myself.
I think that it does a good job of reproducing the original content. As I
understand it, Mozart didn't indicate a whole lot of cresc. and dim. within
the music, rather the performer new what to do. So, if you want a version
without all those adaptations in there, G.S. is the way to go. However, you
may want to check out some other, more edited versions and use them as
performance suggestions -- get an idea of what other people think.

Good luck with the Mozart; it is a REALLY tough piece and a great challenge!!
