I have finally returned home- and caught up with most of my e-mail.
ClarinetFest was wonderful! I recaptured the energy of childhood- not
wanting to sleep for fear of missing something. There was at least one
piece on each of the 8AM concerts that I wanted to hear and each morning I
was glad I got up (as well as glad that I'd brought a coffee maker!) The
playing was superb but with so much going on the (merely) wonderful faded
behind the outstanding or different. I had to escape to the exhibit hall
occassionally to prevent neural overload. The symposiums I attended were
quite enlightening- particularly Stephen Fox's bore lecture and Donald
Casadonte's reed presentation.
I was happy to meet many people from the list and clarinetists in general.
To everyone I met, it was my pleasure!
I noticed some klezmer conversation while I was gone. I would be quite
interested in any further information, tips etc.. I have had very little
previous exposure but had the opportunity (at 8 AM) to hear Michele Gingras
in a wonderful klezmer performance!
