An equally effective non-permanent way (that won't leave any adhesive
residue in the tone hole) is to push a small hunk of cork under the sliver
key. Even if you bump the key, it won't open. If you absolutely need to use
the key one day (or if a smaller-fingered friend borrows the instrument and
can't stand the disabled fingering), you just push the cork out and the key
works as it was meant to.
