There is a cheaper way to accomplish the same thing, and preserve the resale
value of the instrument.
The idea is to keep the sliver key "closed" even if the sliver is touched.
What I did was take a small square of Scotch tape and cover the tone hole,
under the pad. Voila! Hole always closed. Easy to switch back if desired.

Youre not alone. Peter Hadcock (former Eb Clarinet Boston Sym./ Eastman)did
the same thing to his Eb Clarinet.

Switching to Eb
Was interested to hearof your problem w/ bbtrill key
onyour eb clar. I had
the same problem onBb clar due to my large hands and
fingers so I had trill
key removed and the hole plugged up. End of problem!
Before you purists hop
on my case, I realize this solution sounds radical
but it works for me.
