i also have severe tendonitis in my wrists and I've had carpal tunnel in the
past. I went to physical therapy for mine, and my therapist showed me some
ways to prevent reoccurrances. You know those egg things that you can squeeze?
i'm not sure what they're called, but using one of those or someother type of
finger strengthener helps. Plus, I always stretch my wrists before playing by
rolling them in circles and bending them slowly in every direction. And while
I'm playing, I frequently stop and roll my right thumb around. (During
concerts I do this during multi measure rests) ALso, if you practice a lot one
day and you get the pains again, don't play the next day to give your wrists
enough time to recover. It's the same as lifting weights, you shouldn't over
do it. And if you have to play every day then rest the bell between your legs
or on a chair. I know that's bad, but it's better to do that than not play at
all. Hope this helps!!
