Subj: [kl] two more things on tendonitis
Date: Thu, 16 Jul 1998 09:35:30 -0400

1) Someone advised "exercising your muscles." WRONG! This is an =
*injury* and requires rest, not exercise. You risk injuring yourself =
worse than before if you don't give the tendons time to rest and heal.

2) Someone else wanted to know why we don't work to "prevent" tendonitis. =
You can't "prevent" tendonitis any more than you can "prevent" a gunshot =
wound. It's an injury to the connective tissues on a joint, and the only =
possible way to avoid tendonitis is not to overwork the joint (e.g., =
tennis elbow, the most commonly known kind of tendonitis). Trouble is, =
most people don't realize they're putting too much stress on the joints =
until the connective tissue is injured and it's too late. Thank heavens =
for Advil. :-)
