Subj: [kl] tendonitis

No one else has mentioned this, so I thought I'd pipe up.

I'm recovering from a really nasty bout with tendonitis in my elbow, and =
the doctor had me treat it with prescription-strength ibuprofin (anti-infla=
mmatory) and heat (kept a heating pad wrapped around my elbow at night). =
You (nor anyone else) has mentioned the heat, so I wanted to bring it up =
in case it wasn't just an oversight in case you hadn't been told to apply =
heat (and not only does it help you heal, it works as a great pain =
reliever on top of the ibuprofin). Those two things together will help =
the tendons heal, but it's EXTREMELY important that you be diligent about =
the therapy, especially the ibuprofin. Take it as long as your doctor has =
told you to (usually a few times a day for two or three weeks), EVEN IF =
you feel you're getting better. In a past injury, I made the mistake of =
stopping the ibuprofin when I felt better, and the injury flared up worse =
than before. The tendons may feel as if they're healing, but it takes =
longer than you think, and they won't heal if you don't consistently treat =
it. I suppose it's the same logic behind taking an entire course of =
antibiotics; if you don't see it through till the end, it won't work for =
you in the long run. Good luck, and feel better!
